Below we have mentioned 3 different types of network cabling that are available. Take a look.
- Coaxial Cable
This has a single copper conductor in the middle with a plastic layer that provides insulation between the metal shield and center conductor. This metal shield obstructs outer interference from motors, fluorescent lights, and other computers. Though these are difficult to install, coaxial cable is extremely resistant to signal obstruction.
- Shielded Twisted Pair (STP) Cable
This is used in business installations. The special kind of copper telephone wiring has an external shield, which functions as a ground, added to the normal twisted pair telephone wires. STPs are a good option in areas with potential interference. These are used to expand the distance between the cables.
- Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP)
This is the most preferred type of network cable. In this, all pairs are wrapped in a single plastic sheath. UTP can be used for both computer networks and conventional telephone. Apart from being inexpensive, they are simple to install.
